Still Lines by the Water
Full landscape design & build for a luxury lakefront estate in West Michigan
Project Snapshot
Design Features:
Stone outcropping retaining walls • Structured planting design • Infinity-edge pool • Gated drive with circular entry • Lakeside entertaining terrace
Key Focus:
Precision engineering and design restraint to complement architecture and views
Result:
A clean, elegant landscape that enhances the home’s architectural beauty and natural surroundings
The Challenge
For this expansive lakefront property, the homeowners envisioned a landscape as refined as the home itself. The steep grade and striking lake views required careful engineering to balance scale, structure, and sightlines. Every wall height and tree placement had to be intentional, framing the water without obscuring it.
The Solution
Hollandia Outdoors collaborated early in the home’s planning to ensure a seamless connection between architecture and environment.
Stone outcropping retaining walls were used to soften the elevation and blend the home into its lakeside setting.
A minimalist planting plan provided structure and year-round color without overwhelming the design; clean lines, defined forms, and balanced textures.
Mature trees were placed to anchor the property while preserving the panoramic views.
The result is a landscape that feels effortless, where every curve, grade, and planting was engineered to highlight the home’s geometry and the lake beyond.
The Results
The final composition is both bold and understated. From the gated drive to the infinity-edge pool, each element serves a purpose, enhancing the home’s symmetry and serenity.
This project reflects Hollandia’s philosophy: great design happens when the landscape and architecture are conceived together.
